We recently had the pleasure of working with a local family on a window replacement project in the heart of Mountain Brook. Their home on Cherry Street, built in 1948, featured the original steel casement windows, classic in style, but no longer keeping up with the demands of Birmingham’s weather.
With rising summer temperatures and outdated efficiency, it was time to bring this beloved home into the modern era while preserving its charm.

Mountain Brook homes often feature unique architectural details that homeowners want to maintain. In this case, the family was focused on improving energy efficiency without compromising the original aesthetic. The challenge was to replace aging steel casement windows with new vinyl sliders that would blend seamlessly with the home’s historic charm.
The young couple currently living in the home, whose father owns the property as an investment, are in the process of fixing it up. It’s a familiar story in Mountain Brook: breathing new life into older homes while keeping their character intact.
Although the project was completed in two stages, it ultimately led to the addition of more windows, further improving the home’s overall performance and appearance.
